Talofa lava! The Tropical Pacific Dig Diaries will track various archaeological projects in the Pacific Islands run by me, Dr Ethan Cochrane, from the University of Auckland Department of Anthropology. I recently finished a Faculty of Arts funded project on `Upolu Island, Samoa, looking for archaeological evidence of early Lapita colonisation in collaboration with colleagues from the National University of Samoa (NUS) and the NUS Centre for Samoan Studies (publications in process). Now we are gearing up for a three-year Marsden Funded project on the evolution of agriculture in Falefa Valley, Upolu. This blog will contain regular field updates, news from ongoing analyses and future work.
